European Training and Education for Medical Physics Experts in Radiology

The development of advanced QA protocols for testing radiological devices

A practical challenge to be solved: how to monitor the performance of X-ray systems, remotely and for the whole world?

Importance and impact of the training module: New types of digital detectors are being introduced in the clinical practice. They may be used for classical 2D imaging or (pseudo) 3D applications. The MPE faces the challenge to perform acceptance tests on these devices prior to their clinical application. This course module starts from existing protocols and expands them to new versions. The ultimate confirmation of new technology should be retrieved from observer performance results. We will explore the basic techniques to judge performance. The link between observer performance and technical image quality gives a role to (remote) monitoring using basic test objects.
